
Training for Immigration Advocates
In partnership with Centro Ollin Tlahtoalli, the non-profit MANOS: Migrantes Apoyados, No Olvidados, is offering this course in an effort to continue our shared goal of educating advocates. This training is a two-week program in Oaxaca, Mexico, with an emphasis on Spanish, intercultural communication skills, and strategies for zealous representation of immigrants in the U.S. The training consists of eight seminars with two day trips, one to the Zapotec community of Cuajimoloyas and the other to the Zapotec community of Santo Tomas Jalieza. Participants will meet with and hear from community members, and under their guidance, learn about the system of self-governance. Participants will enhance their understanding of the different sociocultural elements that can impact communication process between individuals with different languages, cultures, and communication patterns.
